There is no evidence of increased risk of transmission of COVID-19 from dental care. Dentists follow Infection-Prevention-and-Control-Guidelines. pdf (cdsbc.org) as a regular course of practice. With the current situation, there are additional steps being taken; therefore, your visit may be slightly different than before the pandemic.
Dental clinics are like mini-hospitals and are required to follow strict infection and exposure controls on an ongoing basis. Dentists comply with Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines set by the College. BCDA also provides dentists with an Exposure Control Plan, outlining the requirements for PPE as a standard practice for managing all patients – all the time. This includes the use of gloves, masks and face shields or eyewear to keep both the practitioner and the patient safe.
Prior to your appointment, our dental office might be conducting a screening, either by telephone or an emailed form. The screening may include questions about your health, medical history, social history, recent travel outside of Canada and specific questions related to symptoms of COVID-19. When you arrive, you may be asked to wait outside or in your car until your appointment time. You are required to wear a mask and keep physically distant while in the reception area and other common patient areas. The screening questions you answered previously may be asked again. Relatives and friends may not accompany you in the dental office. You may be asked to follow a specific route in and out of the dental office in order to maintain physical distancing.
If you have any concerns regarding our COVID protocols, please do not hesitate to contact our clinic by phone: (604) 647-6453 or email: smile@lovemysmiledental.ca. We are happy to answer your questions. Thank you.

4 steps to a healthy mouth:
Your first appointment with us:
Before anything is done inside your mouth, our dentist and hygienist will need to know about your medical history, your last dental visit, any changes in your health such as new medications, diabetes, arthritis, pregnancy, etc. It is important that our Dental Care Team knows about any health concerns, anxieties, or allergies you may have in order to avoid incidents and to make sure you get the kind of care you need.
And when we say that we want you to tell us about any concerns or anxieties you have, we mean it! Just let us know and we will tailor the appointment to your comfort! Sometimes, all a person needs is a little explanation or a little listening to their fears to make things seem a little better.
Dental emergencies are a very painful and scary event. In most cases, teeth become fractured by trauma, grinding, eating hard foods. An immediate treatment is always required to alleviate pain and ensure your teeth have the best possible dental care and the best chance of survival.
Contact our office and we will contact you back regarding the intervention you require. Organically grow the holistic world view of disruptive innovation via workplace diversity and empowerment.
